Can you memorize?

We have all learnt to memorize things when we were in school and college days. Most books on memory talks about tools and techniques to memorize. Things like pnemonics are common. But that is not memorizing. Pnemonics take away the objective of memorizing. We don't want to remember that S is for Swan, T for tiger etc. We want to remember the meaning of the words. Remembering the list is just the first stage of memorizing. Then we have to remember meanings.

Some people are so good at memorizing and others are equally bad. Why is this? Because memory is not about techniques it is about the food you eat that improves the cognition level of your brain and as like any other thing it takes regular practice. This regular practice is what makes your memory vivid and clear. You are more happier reciting the list in front of others than saying S for Swan and T for Tiger. (Do you realize that we can use S for Swan and T for Tiger as pnemonics for youngsters who are keen in improving their recall)

Memory is very vital and the better you recall the more you are appreciated and better will be the work done. Some say it is the diet that help you improve the memory. It is true. We want to improve the memory 'as-it-is' rather than take the help of any memorizing techniques. Memorizing techniques are only good for competitions.

To keep your memory ask the doctor what is to be done. There are lots of books on memory and articles on the internet to know about memory. We all know that internet is a taxing way for searching information and not so good for its credibility than doctors. At least it has become one.
So put effort to memorize the next time you have anything to do, but don't use techniques.
