Typing again

This time hurrah I did one more time. Now my typing speed has shown its presence beyond the 100 mark. I am really happy about it. I know if I don't practice it enough it will show its back, but I have to find more and more opportunities where I can put typing to use. It could be anything from writing a form, a letter, email etc. previously mentioned.

CONGRATULATIONS, I NEED A PAT ON MY BACK FOR MY ACHIEVEMENT.

Hip, Hip, Hurrah!

Newspapers again

I have made a new resolution so as to continue reading newspapers. They are a wonderful piece of man's creation I must tell you the advantage of reading a newspaper before I tell you something else.
The list goes something like this
It foremostly improves your English language
Before that, it makes you aware what is happening across the world.
It makes you a better reader
It talks to you about business in and outside India.
It depicts what is moral and what is immoral and how people react under such circumstances.

All you need to know is your language and way it goes like swimming in one of the clearest water. I have tried to read many times the newspaper from top to bottom, but failed. The reason being something doesn't interest you and this is where you must at times place your focus. But I don't know for what reason we don't even skim those news. It is just not you and you don't read such news. It just doesn't feel right. Newspaper is not for grammarians it is for people who want to know what is happening throughout the world.

Read your newspaper daily, if you can do from head to toe nothing like it. My personal opinion is that you must try and read somethings which are even at times embarassing to you as a reader. This requires a brave heart. Even though others might not appreciate it, they would say what kind of news are you reading. Still the answer remains yes. They may just not have a taste for such news. However, continue reading.

Adieu!

Drug mafia

After my 100th Blog I have planned to incorporate something useful and interesting for all those you read it. Recently, I saw a documentary by NGC which was about Escobar, a Columbian drug mafia. It was startling after hearing someone doing something like this.

Columbia is the country where this great mafia was brought up. Columbia 80% of the world wide drug deal. US, where the problem is critical, spends about 170$ million every year to hunt the drug dealers and manufacturers. The whole operation is highly organized but it looks as if they were unorganized as people from different places were involved. Columbia still holds about 75% of the drug dealership across the world, even after the death of Escobar.

Till now 20,000 people were dead per year. Escobar, the 7th richest man in the world at those times show how power corrupts. He lived in a palatial house which had more than 3000 hectares of land space. It is luxurious apartment where it had private zoo. He used to bring friends and relatives regularly to have good time with him.

The reason Escobar was powerful is that he was the 'Robin Hood' for the needy and poor. He built stadiums and schools for the people he not even knew well. Every body there labelled him as the hero and the mesiah of the poor.

The reason he was wanted is that he killed at will and did not have any conscience as to what he was doing, digging his own grave. There were 400 police men that he killed, ample amount of politicians and judges. During the beginning of the 1990s the President of Columbia asked him to surrender, and negotiate an agreement with them, instead of he being killed in the battle. Escobar agreed. But he demanded that he would need a palatial prison. His terms were agreed. This time he made a grave mistake of killing one of his fellow men after they tried to deceive him. This time the President said that he cannot protect him.

This time the President took the help of US. US sent their sophisticated equipments to trace him. Columbian soldiers were trying to track him near the palatial prison. The aerial surveillance team could detect his presence within 100 m but still it was difficult to find him because thousands of people lived in those regions. However, they had to catch him at any cost and this was what the higher authorities had decided. So they sent a US Delta Team, the best in the country, to do the job.

His family knew this that he was walking on a dangerous path. At last he was killed. But he was a mesiah for the poor. During his death there were thousands of crowd who placed homage to him.

Note taking

This is my 100th blog. A nice omen to cross. This time I would want to tell you about how to make notes. Note taking is a substitute for not keeping things in memory. It also serves you better in case you have to increase your comprehension. Text books, lectures, meetings etc all need proper note taking. There are many forms of note taking. They are all diagrams meant for different kinds of note taking.

Few of them are linear note taking like sentence note taking or paragraph note taking. Some people even reserve key words and use them in mind maps. I have found mind maps to be seriously flawed because it needs too much of coloring, and organization of space. At the end it looses its flavour and becomes a mess. Coming to linear note taking. Note taking can never be linear most of the times. A good note taker is always looking for key words and cues that will make him understand things later.

Keep your note taking skills high enough and you will never complaint both as a student and as an employee.

Adieu!

What Next?

Do you know what I am for next. Make myself good at mathematics. This may seem a very vague way of putting it. However, the main subjects I am going to deal with will certainly be more practical. Operations research is going to be one. There are many things that you may find in OR. All engineers and technicians and management men use OR for improving their effectiveness.

The main objective of using OR is to run the practical problem at hand in a most effective way. The one good thing is that you can develop your own models in Operations research. For that to happen you must be good in proper reasoning and be familiar with the problem. OR is only for operations. This is wrong.

OR can be highly helpful in solving day to day management problems. Remember OR is a military subject so it most often talks about resource and time and cost and efficiency etc. I would recommend that for people who know their math well to make their own OR methods and solve day to day operations problem.
